Now regarding websites, that is up to you. There are numerous free types out there like Geocities probably currently run by the Yahoo kids and Tripod with tons of ads. Yes there are some that don't have tons of ads and windows popping ads in your face too. The other type is one that you would work on from home. Now this is extremely efficient and handy and what all little stores and small businesses want, but first you would need a domain name.

Hold up -- Just another important point while looking for a domain name, (www.joansswimwearbook hats etc.com).  when you see all those names slammed at you at godaddy, just remember, he (that's the godaddy crew) or someone has already bought those and they are trying to pawn them off to you at an unreasonably INFLATED PRICE, its much like in Mexico when trying to purchase something at one of those stands, yes, they will try everything to sell it at a crazy price FIRST!
Just keep that in mind when perusing at websites like godaddy.
The other part I was getting to and this is the real meat of the topic/focus ... message here and that is the fact that you will have to add your pages and type in your text with something like MS WORD but its for webpages and its called Microsoft Frontpage. This is the easy to use or user friendly software for working on your website. However, sometimes, this or Macromedia Dreamweaver, excuse me, make that
Adobe Dreamweaver, is a little bit difficult at times to hook up. By that I mean to say, both are problematic at best for connecting to your server .... server is where your domain resides (the company who H O S T s your website, and no NOT your ISP 'internet service provider'). Yes once you get a domain ...(that's your nifty www.cindysnotes.com or www.jimmysquotes.com etc. that you get at godaddy) it will have to be hosted somewhere. Please make sure that where you get your domain name, say for instance godaddy, then have it hosted there too. OTHERWISE, you will loose it to some nasty people when the renewal time comes up. [Please note "I am NOT suggesting godaddy or making a plug as the saying goes for godaddy -- they happen to be stable and have phone support that actually works"]
Not to mention names ah! BUT I WILL!, someone like libertynames back east will send you an email saying hurry hurry renew your domain name now, you send in your $$89 bucks thinking
hmmm.. I thought it was cheaper last time, AND VIOLA/wah-lah!!!! They are now in charge of your domain name.
Now get this, ....now you have to go through getting the dns1 and dns2 numbers to point to the right server and this cost more money. It just gets better and better, so please, please! make sure your website hosting provider is the same as where you got your domain name. Okay that's about enough text here for the search engines to pick this up. WOO-HOO! ))     )
